Accessibility statement

This statement covers the public website at sendiphany.co.uk and the signed-in application. SENCOs read dense records all day and many colleagues and parents who use our forms have access needs of their own; the product has to work for them.

Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across the public site, the signed-in application and the parent and staff contribution forms. Sendiphany Ltd is a private company and is not covered by the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018, but schools that buy from us are, so we hold ourselves to the same standard and publish this statement in the same spirit. We are partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA: the issues we know about are listed below.

What we have done

  • Every page has one main heading, headings in order, and landmarks for the header, navigation, main content and footer, with a skip link to the main content.
  • Every form control has a visible label, and errors are announced and described next to the field they relate to. Required fields are marked in text as well as with a symbol.
  • Keyboard focus is always visible, menus and dialogs can be opened and closed from the keyboard, Escape closes them, and focus returns to where it came from.
  • Status, such as how urgent a deadline is, is never shown by colour alone; it is paired with text and a shape.
  • Colour contrast across the design system meets AA for text and controls.
  • Touch targets on mobile are at least 44 by 44 pixels, pages work at 360 pixels wide without horizontal scrolling, and content reflows when text is enlarged.
  • Animation and transitions are reduced when your system asks for reduced motion.
  • Dates are written in full (“12 March 2026”) rather than as numbers that can be misread, and the two statutory date tools announce their results to screen readers.

Known issues

We know about the following and are working through them. If something not on this list is stopping you, please tell us.

  • Some older screens inside the signed-in application were built before the current design system and are being moved across; until they are, focus styles and spacing are inconsistent in places and a few status indicators rely more on colour than they should.
  • Exported Word documents (EHC plan drafts and annual review packs) use real headings but have not yet been checked against accessibility criteria for documents, for example table headers and reading order.
  • Long tables in the application scroll horizontally on small screens; the data is reachable but the experience with a screen magnifier is not as good as it should be.
  • Uploaded evidence documents are stored as the school supplied them; we do not alter or remediate them, and a scanned PDF without text will not be readable by a screen reader or usable as drafting evidence.
  • The public site has been tested with automated tools and keyboard use, but not yet by an independent accessibility audit.

How we test

Automated accessibility checks run against the application in our end-to-end test suite, and new screens are reviewed with keyboard-only navigation and a screen reader before release. We do not yet have an independent audit; when we commission one we will publish the findings here. This statement was prepared on 4 October 2026 and is reviewed whenever the product changes materially, and at least once a year.

Tell us about a problem

If you cannot use part of the site or the application, need information in a different format, or want to tell us about a barrier, email hello@sendiphany.co.uk with “Accessibility” in the subject or use the contact form. We reply within two working days and will say what we are going to do and when. If you are using Sendiphany through your school and need an adjustment, your school can also raise it with us on your behalf.
